I’m incredibly excited to share the details on why I decided to rebrand my company, but first, I want to make one thing clear.
The only thing that has changed about Modern Reno Solutions is the name and website. My company still has the same credentials and delivers the same exceptional work. The difference is that now, my brand better represents my company’s values, and my website is more informative and functional for those interested in renovating their homes.
Deciding to rebrand was not an easy decision. I’ve invested a lot of time and effort in my company under the mrs brand. I’m proud to say that I’ve built up an excellent reputation, and developed a great client base. Recently, our team won a Homestars Best of 2017 Award, too. These awards are given out based on a range of criteria, one being homeowner reviews. I could have never won this award without my clients taking time out of their busy schedules to provide a review; so, thank you. I truly appreciate it.
There are a ton of good memories associated with modern reno solutions. The thought of transitioning away from the brand was unnerving in the beginning. Then, I started thinking about rebranding like I think about renovations. I asked myself the following questions:
The reason I could detach myself from the mrs brand was because it wasn’t accurately portraying my company. The brand was beginning to blend in with so many other renovation companies here in Ottawa, which didn’t make sense to me, given how different my company is.
For instance, my company is owner-invested and owner-operated. I am involved in every renovation project, and work with clients from the beginning to end. When you work with my company, you always have me – the owner – as your point of contact.
“It is incredibly rare to find a renovation company where the owner works with you side-by-side.”
This was just one reason why I decided to change my company name to my last name: Elfarro.
The other reason I wanted to tie my name to the company was to indicate the stake I have in every project. I am accountable for every project. Not a faceless company, not a random employee. My name is out there for all to see, so I am just as committed to your renovation as you are.
The last deciding factor that made me switch my company’s name was the personalization it added.
“I am a husband, father, and a homeowner. I understand the stresses of owning a house and planning a renovation.”
My company is more than “Modern Reno Solutions” – it’s about connecting with another homeowner and helping them create the best renovation possible.
I wasn’t prepared to go through the re-branding process unless it provided significant value (fyi – this is a good rule of thumb when considering a home renovation). Luckily, I saw my re-brand and website overhaul adding value in two ways:
1
As I’ve explained, I am not your average renovator. I approach projects and working with clients in a much more personal way. The quicker I can communicate this to homeowners, the quicker they can decide whether to pursue working with me.
“Some homeowners are looking for a contractor, and that’s fine – but it’s not me. I want to save both myself and the homeowners time and energy by being transparent about my values, work style, and what I can offer.”
2
I’ve worked in the Ottawa renovation industry for a long time now, and I’ve seen and heard some questionable things. Renovating can be an extremely daunting process, especially when it’s your first time. It can seem impossible to know where to start, or what sources to trust.
Every homeowner should be able to access correct information, so they can make empowered decisions regarding their renovation. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation out there. It can take a huge amount of time and effort to track down correct information.
One goal for the new website is to develop a knowledgebase for those considering a renovation in the Ottawa area. Whether you are a first-time renovator, or have been renovating homes for years, information is constantly changing, and I hope my blog can act as a hub for accurate information.
If you have a renovation question that has been on your mind, chances are, other people are wondering the same thing. Submit any questions you have regarding renovations, and I’ll do my best to answer most in upcoming blog articles.
I can’t think of a better way to kick off my blog than by sharing a guide on how to do your renovation homework properly. To make the process less daunting, I’ve also developed a renovation checklist that you can follow and check off as you go.

If you’ve never been a part of a renovation, you know the construction phase is the most exciting part, because your renovation is that much closer to becoming a reality and uncomfortable, to say the least. There’s a lot of necessary adjustments that need to be made.
Right now, I feel like I’m in the construction phase. I’m in that slightly awkward (but exciting) period, where I am walking away from the old, and welcoming in the new. The truth is, I could use help communicating my brand switch. If you know anyone who has been a client (or can think of anyone that would like to be a client), please share this article and the new website. It’s greatly appreciated.
